Standard Employee Hardware

Why this standard exists

Standardized hardware streamlines procurement, configuration, deployment, and ongoing support and maintenance. It also sets clear expectations for employees about the computing experience the District provides.

Standard employee configurations

Faculty offices

  • Small form-factor desktop computer, or a laptop with a docking station
  • Single 24-inch monitor
  • Wired or wireless keyboard and mouse
  • IP phone

Staff and knowledge-worker stations

  • Small form-factor desktop computer, or a laptop with a docking station
  • Two 24-inch monitors, where the workspace can accommodate them
  • Wired or wireless keyboard and mouse
  • IP phone, with an optional wireless headset

Adjunct faculty and temporary employees without an assigned workspace

  • Laptop

Printing standard

To promote responsible fiscal stewardship and environmental sustainability, personal consumer-grade printers are discouraged because of elevated ink and toner costs and electronic-waste considerations. The District provides shared multifunction devices, which are copiers and scanners with integrated print capability, as the standard printing solution. These devices support secure print release for confidential or sensitive documents. Employees are expected to use these cost-efficient, environmentally responsible, and secure printing options, the Graphics Department, or both whenever possible.
