Summary
Reset your Solano Community College District password through Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR). This guide explains how to complete the reset and resolve the most common problems that prevent it from working.
Use this when: You forgot your Solano password or your current password no longer works.
Audience: Students, faculty, and staff with an active @solano.edu account.
Time required: About 5 to 10 minutes.
Applicants who have not yet received their Solano Welcome Email should wait to receive their Solano Welcome Email before proceeding with any of the steps below.
Multifactor authentication (MFA): MFA is currently required for employees. Students who complete the password reset steps below will verify their identity through their personal email address and will not be asked to complete MFA.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
- Your Solano username. Students can find their username in the personalized Welcome Letter. Employees receive it during onboarding. Example: llane3.
- A personal email address already on file. To complete your Self-Service Password Reset, you must have a personal (non-Microsoft) email on file.
- Personal email not accepted: @solano.edu, @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, @live.com, @outlook.com, or other Microsoft domains.
- To update your personal email:
- A device with a web browser. You can use a phone, tablet, laptop, desktop computer, or lab computer.
You will use two similar username formats:
- Solano username: Enter your username without @solano.edu when signing in to FalconNest. Example: llane3.
- SSPR username: Enter your username with @solano.edu on the password reset page. Example: llane3@solano.edu.
Follow these steps
- Open the Solano Password Reset page. Select the password reset button.
- Enter your SSPR username. Use the format username@solano.edu, and complete the verification challenge sent to your personal email address. Employees should also complete MFA when prompted.
- Create a new password. Follow all password requirements listed below.
- Wait for the success message. Close every open Solano browser tab, and then open a new browser window.
- Sign in to FalconNest. Use your Solano username and your new password.
Password requirements
Your new password must:
- Be 15 to 32 characters long.
- Include at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one of these symbols: ! @ # $ % & *
- Not contain your name or username.
- Not match any of your last 12 passwords.
Tip: A three-word passphrase with a number and a symbol can be easier to remember. Example structure: PurpleHarbor42!Kite. Do not use this exact example as your password.
Confirm it worked
- Confirm that SSPR displays a message stating that your password was reset.
- Open a new browser window and confirm that FalconNest accepts your Solano username and new password.
Success: FalconNest opens and displays your account information or dashboard.
If it does not work
Find the message or result that matches what you see.
“Password does not meet the requirements”
What it means: The new password does not meet one or more requirements.
What to do: Create another password using the requirements above. Check the length first because it must contain at least 15 characters.
“The password you entered was used recently”
What it means: The password matches one of your last 12 passwords.
What to do: Choose a new password. Do not reuse an earlier password or only change the number at the end.
“Your account has been locked”
What it means: Too many unsuccessful attempts temporarily locked the account.
What to do: Wait 15 minutes and try again. If the account remains locked, submit a Password or Login Help request.
The reset succeeded, but FalconNest still does not open.
What it means: Your browser may still be using an old sign-in session.
What to do: Start by clearing your cache. Alternatively, open a new private or incognito window, and then sign in to FalconNest with your new password.
Do not continue guessing: Repeated unsuccessful attempts can temporarily lock your account. Wait 15 minutes before trying again or submit a Password or Login Help request.
